In accordance with childcare regulations, a child in The Fun Zone Learning and Childcare will routinely only be released to the enrolled parent/legal guardian or authorized persons in the file.
If there is a court order or non-custodial parents:
- A copy of the most recent custody agreement, a court order, and a picture of the non-custodial parent must be provided by the parent.
- When the non-custodial parent arrives and demands that the child be delivered to them, the caregiver will.
- calmly explain the daycare’s regulations and procedures regarding child release.
➔ Ensure the safety of all youngsters and employees.
➔ Contact the parent who has primary custody.
➔ If a parent tries to escape with the child, call the police at 604-826-7161.
Child Care Licensing Regulation 57 (3) (b) states a licensee must have in writing from a parent, and maintain at the community care facility, consent to release a child to someone other than a parent.
Child Care Licensing Regulations 56 (1) (a) states a licensee must keep written policies and procedures for the safe release of children.
Upon registration the center will require consent of the parent and the names of each person authorized to remove the child from the facility. The center will ensure that a child is not released from care to anyone except a parent or a person authorized in writing to do so.
