The Fun Zone Learning and Childcare Centre has an emergency kit on hand in case of an emergency. This kit has enough emergency supplies to provide for all of the daycare’s children and employees for at least 72 hours. Every month we practice our fire drills, and every year we do our earthquake exercise.
Emergency evacuation procedure:
- If a situation arises that forces us to leave the center, we will bring our emergency gear and all the children to our emergency meeting location.
- Getting them out of harm’s way as quickly and safely as we can is our top priority. To transport the kids safely to our meeting spot, we will use wagons and strollers.
- We will bring our children’s files and emergency kits with us, and each child will have a card with their name and care card number on it. Parents will be notified as soon as possible to arrange pick-up. We’ll leave a message with our location on the center doors.
- We have toys in our emergency bag for each child to keep them occupied and feel secure while they are in care at our emergency meeting location. If necessary, we will have an authorized first aid kit on hand to treat a child.
- We will practice our emergency plan at least once a year.
